Facebook doesn’t natively support the download of Facebook videos. So, if you want to save a video to your computer or smartphone, you will need to either install a third-party app or use an online web service.
I’m not a big supporter of installing third-party apps because of the potential for security leaks.
There are a bunch of online services that you can use to download videos from Facebook straight to your device. After reviewing several of them, I’ve found that the one I prefer the most is the Facebook downloader at FBDownloader.net.
A few of the things that stand out for me are how clean and easy the web interface is to use. There are no annoying advertisements and the download options once the video has processed are clear.
Another nice thing is that the website works the same regardless of which device you use since it’s browser-based, so you always enjoy the same user experience.
Let me walk you through exactly how you use the website.

How to save Facebook videos
To get started using the website the first thing you will need to do is find the Facebook video that you want to save. For the sake of this article, I’m using my computers for the whole tutorial.
Step1: Head over to Facebook.com and find the video that you want to download. You’ll need to copy the direct link to the video by doing one of three things.
- Right-click on the three dots in the top right corner of the post and click “copy link”.
- Right-click on the video and select “show video URL”. This will trigger a modal with a direct link to the video that you can copy.
- Copy the link from the browser’s address bar.

Step 2: Go to FBDownloader.net and paste the link that you copied into the field on the homepage.

Step 3: Once the download page has generated, you will have the option to save the video in both standard and high-quality formats, and you can even extract the audio from the video and save it as an mp3. Click on any of the links to save the video to your device.

How to save private Facebook videos
Sometimes the videos that want to save might be private. Maybe the video has been posted into a restricted Facebook group, or maybe one of your close friends with a private account has posted it. Whatever the case, we’ve got you covered.
Step 1: As always, find the direct link to the video that you want to download and navigate to it in your browser. Once you’re on the page, add the following text to the beginning of the URL “view-source:” and hit enter.

Step 2: Copy the page source by hitting the “CTRL” + “a” keys on your computer keyboard followed by “CTRL + c”. This will copy the page source to your clip-board.

Step 3: Head over to the private video downloader and paste the page source into the text area on the page. Click the “download video” button.

Step 4: The page will reload with the available download links for the video.
By using the website reviewed in this article, you will be able to download any video from Facebook, which will enable you to share Facebook clips with your friends and even enjoy them when you’re disconnected from the internet. From now on, start enjoying your favorite Facebook video anytime, anywhere.

Thanks for such a detailed tutorial! If you don’t mind, I would also like to add on the suggestions of the tool I use pretty regularly to mp3 video downloaded. It is an extremely faster conversion app when compared with other conversion services. It does not require any registration, so it’s both reliable and free.
If you want to download a Facebook album from your own profile, Facebook has a simple method to do that. Again, you don’t need any third-party downloader.
